St. Rita Small Christian Community (SCC)

About our community

September 27, 2020 marked the birth of a new Small Christian Community at the Holy Family Minor BasilicaSt. Rita SCC.

It was formed by individuals who were welcomed into the Catholic faith after receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation, and who chose St. Rita of Cascia as their patron saint.

Vision

To help people find God, grow in faith, discover their purpose, and make a difference.

Mission

To know our faith, live by truth and love, serve the needs of others, and teach by example, thereby strengthening and inspiring the SCC.

Our Objectives

Our Patron Saint

St. Rita

St. Rita SCC stands on three strong pillars:

  • The first pillar is their patron saint, St. Rita, one of the most influential saints in the Catholic Church, known for her faith and perseverance amid trials. After the loss of her husband and sons, St. Rita turned her sorrow into devotion by joining the Augustinian Nuns of the Saint Mary Magdalene Monastery, dedicating her life to prayer and service. Similarly, the members of St. Rita SCC draw inspiration from her life — many having experienced challenges that distanced them from God but later finding renewal in faith.
  • The second and third pillars are Fr. Boniface Mburu and Rt. Rev. Fr. Simon Peter Kamomoe, who served as the group’s catechist’s during their spiritual formation. They also served as the groups Chaplains respectively, played a key role in nurturing the group’s sacramental foundation and continue to inspire the community’s faith journey. Fr. Robert Ndung’u now serves as the group’s chaplain, walking closely with them in their growth and mission.
