Couples for Christ (CFC) is an international Catholic lay ecclesial movement dedicated to renewing and strengthening Christian family life. Founded in Manila, Philippines, in January 1981, CFC began with a small group of married couples who desired to live a more committed Christian life and to deepen their relationship with God through prayer, fellowship, and discipleship. CFC is now present in more than 160 countries, with over 700,000 active members across all its family ministries. It is one of only 122 international associations formally recognized by the Holy See through the Pontifical Council for the Laity.
CFC Kenya was established in 1996 at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, Don Bosco, Nairobi. In 2026 the movement celebrates 30 years of presence across Kenya, with communities in the Archdiocese of Nairobi and other dioceses. Holy Family Minor Basilica is proud to host one of Nairobi’s active CFC households under the CBD Unit.
Families in the Holy Spirit Renewing the Face of the Earth. Moved by the Holy Spirit, one with the Catholic Church, blessed to witness to Christ’s love and service, Couples For Christ is a united global community of family evangelizers that sets the world on fire with the fullness of God’s transforming love.
Building the Church of the Home. Building the Church of the Poor. We are committed to live in God’s righteousness and holiness, evangelizing people through a life of love and service. We shall work for the renewal of families that will serve God and build generations of Christian leaders; and we shall pursue Total Christian Liberation through social justice, respect for life, and work with the poor.
CFC accompanies persons through every stage of life through six interconnected family ministries, a “womb-to-tomb” pastoral structure ensuring no one is left without a community of faith regardless of their life stage.
Offers pastoral care, spiritual formation, and community for widowed men, separated men, and mature single men.
Promotes fraternity, healing, leadership, and active participation in the Church’s mission.
Formation - Christian Life Program (CLP)
The CLP is CFC’s foundational 8-talk formation experience and the gateway for new members. Each family ministry conducts its own CLP, sharing the same essential structure: encounter, formation, community, and commitment.
Households
Small communities of four to eight families or individuals gathering regularly for prayer, Scripture sharing, and mutual support. Constitutionally mandated by CFC’s International Statutes as the foundational unit of the movement, the primary space where formation happens through sustained, covenantal relationship.
Ongoing Formation
Regular retreats, recollections, and conferences for continuous spiritual growth, including the annual Couples Conference/retreats, Marriage Enrichment Retreats, Women’s and Men’s Conferences, Youth and Singles Conferences, and Kids Camps.
Charity - Social Mission: ANCOP
Besides charity visits as a household, CFC’s commitment to the poor is expressed through ANCOP, Answering the Cry of the Poor, the movement’s primary humanitarian and social development arm. In Kenya, ANCOP Kenya Limited (AKL) participates in education and scholarship assistance especially for seminarians and child sponsorship programs.

Membership is open to validly married Catholic couples. Any Catholic who is single, widowed, separated, or a young person may also join through the appropriate family ministry (KFC, YFC, SFC, HOLD, or SOLD). CFC transcends cultural, economic, and social distinctions, uniting people across all sectors of society.
Step 1 — Attend a Christian Life Program (CLP), the foundational entry point into CFC and all its family ministries.
Step 2 — Make your membership covenant and be integrated into a Household community for ongoing formation and support.
Step 3 — Participate in the life of your chapter through assemblies, conferences, and service activities.
