The St. Simon Peter Small Christian Community was founded on April 10, 2022, by members of the RCIA class of 2020/2022 at the Holy Family Minor Basilica.
The group’s baptism and confirmation were conducted by Fr. David Kinyanjui during the Easter Vigil on April 16, 2022. Then Fr. Joseph Mugane until the year 2024. The community is currently under the spiritual guidance of Fr. Robert, who continues to support members in their journey of faith.
To be a welcoming community that inspires peace, joy, and purpose through faith in Christ.
To be a source of hope and encouragement, sharing God’s love with the world through commitment to the Gospel and the Holy Mass.
The community was established to offer a welcoming space for individuals to connect with their faith, grow spiritually, and live lives filled with peace, joy, and purpose.
Members of St. Simon Peter SCC express their Catholic faith through worship, service, prayer, and active participation in the Holy Mass. Their meetings focus on prayer and Scripture sharing, while regular activities throughout the year include Bible studies, shared meals, outreach projects, and retreats—all designed to nurture fellowship and mutual spiritual growth.
St. Simon Peter
St. Simon Peter, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, was chosen by the Lord to be the foundation of His Church. Known as “the rock” on which the Church was built and recognized as the first Pope, he demonstrated great courage and unwavering faith in the face of trials. His journey—from fisherman to apostle and finally to martyr—continues to inspire believers to live with trust, humility, and boldness in faith.
He is the patron saint of fishermen, net makers, and ship builders. His feast day is celebrated on June 29.
The community chose St. Peter as its patron saint because of his profound significance in the Bible and the early Church. As the first Pope, his steadfast faith, courage, and repentance reflect the journey of every Christian striving to follow Christ more closely.
His inspiring legacy reminds members that even in human weakness, God’s grace is sufficient to transform lives.

The community currently has 25 members. Membership is open to all parishioners of the Holy Family Minor Basilica—whether new to the faith or seeking to deepen their spiritual journey.
